Course Overview

Do you want to find out if you have what it takes to be an actor? In this one year performance based course, you can do that. Students work on a children’s play that has been written by writer in residence, Niamh Gleeson. By the end of the run, over 2,500 children will have seen it. In the spring term they work on a Shakepeare play which is performed for secondary schools. Student Testimonials / Where are they now?

I studied Theatre Studies at Marino College of Further Education in 2010. The one-year course set me up to dip into all aspects of theatre which allowed me to find my niche. I explored monologues, miming and contemporary dance and performed two shows in the Sean O’ Casey Theatre. The skills learned from the course led me to move on to do a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts in Trinity Saint David, Swansea.
I have created shows which toured to the UK and Amsterdam, Holland for a Free Fringe Festival. Performing in a hospital led me to fall in love with the work of Arts Therapists and I found my feet back in Ireland studying a Masters in Dramatherapy. Without the core of the work I learned in Marino, I would not have found the confidence to pursue further in education to grow my passion in the work of the Arts.
