Course Overview
This course is full for 2023.
This one year, part-time, level 5 course is QQI Accredited. It is designed to provide adults who are unemployed the opportunity of a career change whilst returning to education and retaining their benefits. Students will acquire knowledge and develop skills with an overall competence and confidence to work in the provision of holistic care in a variety of healthcare settings. A work experience placement is a key element of the course and contributes to the Student Health Care Assistants learning and professional development.
The course provides first-hand experience in the world of healthcare through the placement which fosters the development of work skills required for a career in the industry.

PHECC – FAR; First Aid Response 3 day course (Pre-Medical Hospital Emergency Care Council)
Work Placement Experience (one day a week with a two week block placement arranged further on in the course)

Further Study opportunities
For those who wish to continue on their pathway of education, there are a number of options available to them including further studies in the health care service. Marino College provides a Level 6 Health Service Management course which is available on successful completion of the Level 5.
Eligibility
In order to apply for this course you must be in receipt of a Social Welfare payment.
